KANHA–PENCH, CENTRAL INDIA
We examined habitat use by wolves across a multi-use landscape in the Kanha–Pench region of central India. Ecological factors such as land cover, dry habitats and human disturbance were potential factors driving wolf habitat use. We also examined patterns of wolf attacks on domestic goats, and the spatial determinants of such depredations. The paper based on this study is available online.
MAHARASHTRA, WESTERN INDIA
We conducted surveys at the landscape scale across western Maharashtra in 2015. The 89,000 sq. km area was once a semi-arid landscape, and has over time been converted into agricultural use with permanent crop cover. Interviewing local informants from the forest department, we examined factors that allowed wolves to persist in the landscape. The paper based on this study can be downloaded from here.
